Invitation to Energy Saving Workshops

Marches Energy Agency will be running free energy saving workshops on two
evenings this month:

Fire_7020 (3) 11th and 18th November (both Wednesdays), 7 – 9pm, in the Coffee Shop at the Glasshouse College.

This is a great way to learn about energy use – at home and for transport – to pick up ideas for our ‘energy descent’. For people who have signed up to 10:10, there will be ideas on how to achieve a 10% (and more) reduction in carbon emissions.

Please let us know via email if you’d like to attend.

If you would like to attend but can’t make these dates, please also inform us, as there will probably be further workshops in the future.

For the workshops, you need to bring energy bills (gas, electricity, oil etc) and an idea of annual car mileage if you can, plus a calculator.

It will be an enjoyable and informative evening!

Working together with Neighbours’ News

newsp

Pam and Odilia recently met with Malcolm Blatchford and his colleague Amanda from Neighbours’ News which is a community newsletter covering areas in and around the Black Country.

As you may remember we were planning a newsletter for Stourbridge to publicise local positive and community news. Hearing that Neighbours’ News also plan to do the same (and already have a wealth of experience) we have decided to work together with them rather than reinvent the wheel.

So the plan is that we will feed into their publication and be part of the editorial meetings, sending in articles from projects that we run or hear of in the area.

It is clear that a lot of hard work and commitment goes into producing Neighbours’ News, which for the past eight years has been run on a voluntary basis by Malcolm and Amanda. We are looking forward to getting involved and contributing to the  Stourbridge issues in the near future.

Plans for a local ‘Positive News’ type publication

We ourselves are working on getting a small community publication going for the Stourbridge area which will feature local people and organisations who are contributing to the community through looking after the environment, charity-work, or social enterprise.

The aim of the publication is to help projects and people connect. We are sure there are many good things happening in and around Stourbridge, but not everyone knows about it. We’d like to change that.

Anyone interested in helping us out,  do get in contact.
